The Mohammed VI University Hospital Center in Marrakech recently hosted the fifth edition of the "CeraVe Days" initiative, a significant step aimed at bringing dermatological expertise closer to patients and enhancing access to healthcare related to skin diseases and dryness. This event combined medical awareness with free consultations, providing a much-needed service to the community.
This initiative aligns with the mission of the CeraVe brand, which seeks to make dermatology more accessible to the public by organizing dedicated days for free dermatological consultations within public health institutions and university hospital centers. This approach allows patients to receive practical and educational guidance on daily skin care.
During this health event, patients suffering from issues related to dry skin received direct support from the medical team representing the CeraVe brand. After undergoing medical consultations, the focus was placed on the importance of continuous skin hydration and the adoption of sound daily skincare practices. Simplified explanations regarding prevention and care methods were also provided, ensuring patients understood how to manage their skin conditions effectively.
The event was organized in collaboration with several specialized medical professionals from the Mohammed VI University Hospital Center, including Professor Amal, head of the dermatology department, and Professor Wafaa Houkar, a dermatologist and president of the Moroccan Association of Pediatric Dermatology. Their involvement was crucial in facilitating patient access to this health initiative within the hospital.
Professor Wafaa Houkar emphasized that dermatology encompasses nearly 3,300 different skin diseases. She noted that daily consultations often see a variety of cases, including acne, psoriasis, hair loss, and atopic dermatitis, along with conditions such as melasma. More complex cases involving autoimmune, inflammatory, and serious infectious diseases are handled by the hospital's specialized services.
Leila Benjelloun, Managing Director of L'Oréal Morocco, explained that this initiative is part of a vision to "democratize dermatology" by making this specialty more accessible and equitable for various segments of Moroccan society. She highlighted that access to dermatological care and prevention against complications related to serious conditions, including skin cancer, is a fundamental part of the brand's commitment alongside healthcare professionals in Morocco.
The choice of public health institutions and university hospital centers to host this initiative reflects CeraVe’s approach, as a brand that prioritizes accessibility and convenience. Its products are developed in collaboration with dermatologists, focusing particularly on dry skin care and promoting health literacy associated with it.
Through the "CeraVe Days", the brand continues to reaffirm its commitment to raising awareness about the importance of hydration and daily skin care, bridging the gap between medical information and patients, enhancing health education, and providing practical solutions that meet the needs of dry skin with a simplified and accessible medical approach.
