Hesaro Shipyard in Agadir Faces Financial Turbulence
The Hesaro shipyard, located in the new port of Agadir, is currently grappling with significant financial difficulties that may signal the beginning of the end for this once-promising enterprise. Established in 1998 and led by its founder Daniel Rodrigues, the shipyard specializes in the construction, outfitting, and repair of vessels, including fishing boats, recreational yachts, and service ships made from steel, aluminum, and composite materials, typically ranging in length from 15 to 40 meters.
According to sources from Maghreb-Intelligence, the financial strain on Hesaro has become so severe that the Agadir commercial court has initiated proceedings to auction off the shipyard's assets. This development is particularly disheartening given Hesaro's initial potential to contribute significantly to both the fishing industry and luxury yacht manufacturing in the region. The first auction is scheduled for July 21, where an aluminum hull, an old wooden boat, the San Michelle II vessel, a medium-sized aluminum craft, and a long steel boat will be sold. The judicial appraisal has set the starting bid for these assets at 759,000 dirhams, with proceeds from the sale benefiting the Bank of Africa (BoA).
