Hangyu Technology Shifts Production to Morocco

In a significant move that highlights the growing investment landscape in Morocco, Hangyu Technology, a Chinese manufacturer specializing in aerospace components, has announced plans to establish a forging plant in the Mohammed VI Tanger Tech City, after initially considering Slovakia for this project. This decision, which was validated by the company's board on October 8, 2026, is set to involve an investment of approximately €105 million, as reported by the National Business Daily.

The company cited new administrative procedures in Slovakia that caused significant delays in obtaining necessary permits as a primary factor for the relocation. These complications prompted Hangyu to reconsider the timeline for their investment, leading to the decision to shift the project to Morocco, which they deemed more favorable.

Future Prospects for the Moroccan Facility

The new Moroccan facility, tentatively named Atlas Advanced Materials, will focus on manufacturing precision-forged parts intended for various industrial applications. Funding for this ambitious project will come from the company's own resources as well as additional sources, with cash disbursements planned incrementally based on the progress of construction.

Preliminary discussions with Moroccan authorities have suggested that no further administrative reviews will be necessary, indicating that significant support is already in place for the venture. However, the project still requires approvals from Chinese authorities for foreign investments, along with local building permits and company registration.

While a preliminary land agreement has been signed, no definitive purchases have been finalized yet. Hangyu also plans to dissolve its Slovakian subsidiary, which had not commenced operations, as construction on the factory had not yet started. The company is well-regarded for its expertise in producing precision-forged components for aircraft engines and other advanced equipment, counting major players like GE Aerospace, Pratt & Whitney, Safran, Rolls-Royce, Honeywell, and Collins Aerospace among its clientele.
