Recent documents declassified by the Spanish government reveal that the National Intelligence Center (CNI) had indeed alerted Moroccan intelligence services about social media calls for mass entry into Ceuta as early as July 29, 2026. This information indicates that there were organized mobilizations, which the CNI estimated had a reach of up to 180,000 followers across two groups on social media platforms. The intelligence agency also notified the Civil Guard about these developments, highlighting the gravity of the situation.
According to these documents, prior to the mass influx of migrants into Ceuta, the intelligence and police services were aware of critical details such as the planned date of the assault, the routes that would be used for entry, and the existence of organized calls that were gaining traction online. Notably, at precisely 1:52 PM on July 29, less than 24 hours before the anticipated assault, the CNI communicated with the Ceuta Delegation's cabinet, stating that there was a call for an assault on the fence and by sea scheduled for the following evening at 8 PM. This mobilization aimed to coincide with the "Throne Day" celebrations and was being circulated by two distinct groups, demonstrating the significant potential for mass participation.
This revelation contradicts previous claims by the government that the CNI had not foreseen the magnitude and nature of the migrant influx.
