Comediablanca Festival: A Night of Unforgettable Laughter and Community Spirit

Celebrating Laughter and Community at Comediablanca

On that unforgettable evening, the faces of the attendees spoke volumes as they exited the Mohammed V Complex. No one could contain their excitement; friends exchanged jokes in the corridors, couples shared knowing smiles while struggling to articulate their feelings, and strangers erupted in laughter at the venue's exit. When a festival can evoke such joy in 5,000 people simultaneously, it has undoubtedly captured the essence of entertainment and community.

The third edition of the Comediablanca festival commenced with tremendous energy. The Arabophone gala on June 4th was sold out well before the charismatic and generous master of ceremonies, Taliss, took to the stage. The lineup featured some of the brightest stars of Moroccan comedy, including Oussama Ramzi, Saïd & Wadie, Ayoub Idri, Fadwa Taleb, Rachid Rafik, Driss & Mehdi, Fatih Mohamed, Wahiba Bouya, and Zouhair Zair, bringing together the most vibrant talents in Moroccan comedy for a single night—a true luxury. Rachid Rafik, whom the Maroc Hebdo team met backstage, had a straightforward message for those who missed the event: "For those who missed this year's festival, it's unfortunate for you, but we look forward to seeing you next year."

Having covered Comediablanca for three consecutive years, I can personally attest that it has never failed to impress. What sets Comediablanca apart from other festivals is the vibrant atmosphere before and after the show. The experiential village surrounding the complex, complete with a lively food court and festive ambiance, transforms a simple outing into a memorable life experience. Attendees do not just come to watch a performance; they come to reconnect with their city, friends, and neighbors. That night, the audience was a microcosm of Casablanca itself, featuring families, young adults, and individuals from all walks of life and neighborhoods. Laughter was the universal language that united everyone present.

Broadening Horizons Beyond Casablanca

However, Comediablanca is not only focused on local audiences. Founded in Casablanca, where the city lacked its own comedy festival, the initiative was brought to life by co-founders Myriam Bouayad Amine and Saad Lahjouji Idrissi, who share a common vision: to create a space where humor flourishes, unites, and radiates joy. This ambitious goal has been more than accomplished. In just three editions, the festival has attracted over 11,000 spectators, with this year's target set at 15,000. Beyond Moroccan borders, Comediablanca launched its international tour on December 22, 2025, at the Olympia in Paris, performing before a full house, featuring special guest Gad Elmaleh. The festival then made its way to the Cirque Royal in Brussels, with future stops planned in Montreal and Abidjan. Moroccan humor, which was once confined to living rooms and screens, is now taking flight and reaching audiences worldwide.

With two more nights left in the festival, Jalil Tijani is set to perform tomorrow, June 5th, in front of an eager audience with a revamped version of his show, Jeux de Société. On Saturday, the grand Francophone gala will feature Kheiron, Laurie Peret, Mehdi Bousaidan, and the young Mimo Lazrak, a loyal participant since the festival's inception, who never fails to leave the crowd in stitches. Comediablanca is far from finished making headlines, and for us, the laughter is just getting started.
