Exploring the Essence of Modern Poetry Through Young Voices

As part of the "Dar Poetry Salon" for the tenth cultural and poetic season, the Dar Poetry in Marrakech is set to host a captivating event on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at 7:30 PM. This event, taking place at the cultural center of Daoudiat, opposite Al-Qadisiyah Secondary School, will feature a new segment of its artistic and cultural program titled "Contemporary Voices." This program will showcase a panel of poets including Amal Al-Gharib, Mohamed Ashraf Al-Shawi, Abdelilah Mahdad, and Abdelhak Belmadin, along with a special performance by artist Ibrahim Laboul.

The evening is designed to provide an engaging platform where the poets will share their insights on the topic of "Questions of Writing Today," accompanied by readings from their own works. Moreover, the event invites an open dialogue with the audience, allowing for a rich exchange of ideas and interpretations. This initiative aims to bridge the gap between contemporary poetic expressions and the current artistic landscape in Morocco.

Four poets from the same emerging literary generation will come together to explore the intricate relationship between poetic writing and their concerns regarding the new Moroccan creativity. The Dar Poetry in Marrakech opens a new window for dialogue and interaction through this initiative. "With their voices, we aim to create an interactive experience that highlights the diversity of modern Moroccan poetry and its evolving sensibilities and generations. This initiative is part of our broader cultural program for the tenth season, as we seek to engage more deeply with the various experiences and emotional landscapes that characterize contemporary Moroccan poetry," said a representative from the Dar.
