Legal Consequences for Social Media Influencer

On August 17, 2026, the Marrakech Court of First Instance imposed a sentence of ten months in prison on content creator Soukaina Jnah, popularly known as "Glamour." Additionally, she was fined 500 dirhams and prohibited from using social media platforms for three years. This ruling came after she was charged with publicly violating public decency, as confirmed by a judicial source to Le360. The sentencing followed the first hearing of her trial, which commenced earlier that day, after the public prosecutor decided on August 15 to detain the suspect and charge her while in custody, once the preliminary investigation and interrogation processes were concluded.

Background of the Case

The case originated when information surveillance authorities detected a live stream in which the influencer was showcasing home clothing products. However, during the broadcast, certain footage was deemed inappropriate and offensive to public decency by law enforcement. This led to a coordinated investigation between the police in Casablanca and Marrakech, culminating in her arrest at Mohammed V International Airport on August 12, as she was preparing to leave Morocco on a flight. This recent sentence brings Soukaina back to prison after previously serving a two-year sentence from 2019 to 2021 for her involvement in the controversial "Hamza Mon Bibi" account, which included charges related to data processing violations, extortion, and defamation.
