Marrakech Court Sentences Content Creator for Indecency
The Primary Court in Marrakech has delivered a significant ruling today, August 17, 2026, sentencing the well-known content creator, referred to as "Kalamour," to ten months of imprisonment along with a monetary fine of 500 dirhams. Furthermore, the court has prohibited her from using social media platforms for a period of three years. This decision comes after the initial sessions of her trial, during which she was remanded in custody at the local Oudaya prison, following charges related to content she published across digital platforms.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office initiated legal proceedings against her based on actions categorized as a public indecency violation, stemming from the dissemination of video clips and excerpts from a live broadcast deemed to contravene public morality. Her arrest occurred at Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca, as she attempted to leave the country. This operation was coordinated with security services in Marrakech, leading to her being subjected to judicial investigation and subsequently referred to the Public Prosecutor's Office, which decided to pursue the case while she remained in custody.
This ruling by the Marrakech Primary Court addresses the charges against the individual, enforcing penalties that include both imprisonment and a fine, alongside a court-mandated three-year ban on social media usage. The case highlights the ongoing legal and societal challenges surrounding content creation and the responsibilities that come with digital expression.
