Strengthening International Aviation Partnerships
On April 14, 2026, in Marrakech, Morocco's Minister of Transport and Logistics, Abdel Samad Kayouh, engaged in a series of discussions with various international transport ministers and officials from global aviation organizations. This event coincided with the fifth global conference dedicated to supporting the implementation of civil aviation initiatives in Marrakech, where several cooperation agreements were signed. During these meetings, Kayouh highlighted the ongoing collaboration with Angola, specifically addressing the potential enhancement of the Royal Air Maroc service between Luanda and Casablanca. He mentioned plans to increase the frequency of flights from the current weekly schedule to two or three flights, showcasing a commitment to improving connectivity and fostering bilateral relations.
In addition, Kayouh noted that Royal Air Maroc is contemplating the acquisition of new aircraft, expected to arrive in the coming months. This development is accompanied by the anticipated launch of a maritime route between Morocco and Angola, coinciding with the opening of the Atlantic Dakhla port, which aims to bolster trade and transport links between the two nations.
Commitment to Aviation Safety and Training
Moreover, during a separate meeting with the Secretary-General of the African Civil Aviation Commission, an agreement was signed that allows Morocco to provide training for aviation technicians across Africa. This initiative is part of Morocco's broader strategy to enhance safety standards within the aviation sector by developing African expertise and skills. Kayouh asserted that this effort aligns with the "high royal policy" aimed at supporting African nations. Additionally, a bilateral air transport agreement was established with Costa Rica, granting the third and fourth freedom rights for flights between the two countries.
Furthermore, Kayouh had discussions with the Yemeni Minister of Transport, Mohsen Ali Haidara Qasim, focusing on air transport cooperation. This agreement reflects Yemen's interest in strengthening ties, particularly in the aftermath of recent conflicts that have impacted the country since 2015. The Yemeni minister expressed optimism regarding the forthcoming agreement, emphasizing its potential to foster cooperation and exchange of expertise between the two nations. He extended gratitude to Morocco, acknowledging the support provided by the Moroccan government and its people during challenging times.
