Crédit Agricole Divests Unifitel in Casablanca
On September 6, 2026, Crédit Agricole announced its decision to divest Unifitel, its customer relations center located in Casablanca, Morocco. Majorel Africa, a subsidiary of Teleperformance, is set to acquire 100% of Unifitel's capital and voting rights. This transaction has been officially reported to the Moroccan Competition Council, which will oversee the process. According to the official statement from the institution, after the acquisition, Majorel Africa will gain exclusive control over Unifitel, which is a Moroccan entity that specializes in customer relationship management, after-sales services, consulting, and debt recovery within the financial sector.
Unifitel, which has a registered capital of one million dirhams, has not disclosed the agreed purchase price or the potential implications of this transaction for its employees. This acquisition is part of a broader trend of restructuring within the French banking groups operating in Morocco. In recent years, Crédit Agricole has already sold its stake in Crédit du Maroc to Holmarcom, while BNP Paribas recently divested its subsidiary BMCI to the same Moroccan group.
Majorel Africa Strengthens Its Position in Casablanca
The acquisition will be executed by Majorel Africa, a Moroccan holding company with a capital of 230.3 million dirhams, based in Casablanca Finance City. This company belongs to the French group Teleperformance, which specializes in outsourcing services for businesses. By acquiring Unifitel, Teleperformance will enhance its Moroccan operations with a specialized operator in banking, consumer credit, insurance, and debt recovery.
This project is currently under review by the Competition Council, which has set a deadline of September 14, 2026, for interested parties to submit their observations regarding the acquisition. The move comes at a time when the presence of French banks in Morocco is undergoing significant changes, reflecting a growing trend of disengagement. The recent shifts highlight a pivotal moment for the French banking sector in Morocco, as they navigate through market dynamics and local economic conditions.
