Curtiss-Wright Expands Operations in Morocco's Aerospace Sector

The announcement was made on July 21 during the Farnborough International Airshow 2026 in the United Kingdom, where a memorandum of understanding was signed with the Moroccan government.
Ray Lopuc, Senior Vice President and head of Curtiss-Wright Surface Technologies, expressed enthusiasm about the project, stating, "Morocco has emerged as a vital growth hub for major aerospace manufacturers and their supply chains, and we are excited to provide essential surface treatment services to our valued clients." The facility is anticipated to be operational by mid-2027, although specific investment figures and the number of jobs to be created have yet to be disclosed.
A Thriving Aerospace Ecosystem
The new plant is set to apply specialized treatments to aerospace components produced in Morocco, enhancing metal protection against corrosion and preparing surfaces for assembly or coating processes. These treatments are crucial to ensuring the reliability and longevity of components subjected to significant mechanical or thermal stresses.
Morocco already boasts a flourishing aerospace industry, comprising approximately 155 companies, including industry giants like Boeing, Spirit AeroSystems (which acquired Bombardier's factory), and French group Safran, alongside various suppliers such as Hexcel, Pratt & Whitney, and Figeac Aero. This thriving ecosystem employs over 25,000 individuals and generates approximately $3 billion in exports, with a local integration rate of 42% and an average annual growth rate of 17%. This reflects a gradual expansion of the local subcontractor ecosystem.
