Discovering the Luxurious Kasbah d'If in Morocco's Agafay Desert

Experience Luxury and Serenity at the Kasbah d'If

Nestled approximately 30 kilometers from the vibrant city of Marrakech, the Kasbah d'If emerges majestically from the Agafay Desert, offering breathtaking views of the Atlas Mountains. This newly constructed five-star hotel, designed in the traditional adobe style, beautifully encapsulates Moroccan craftsmanship while prioritizing the well-being of its guests. It serves as a perfect getaway for those seeking luxury amidst serene and expansive landscapes.

A Journey Through the Desert Landscape

For two decades, the local Berber communities have become accustomed to the influx of adventure seekers arriving in their quad bikes and buggies, journeying through the striking ochre and white hills that characterize the region. Along the rugged trails of the stony desert, hikers can be seen navigating rocky dunes, while tourists on horseback and camels often pause to admire the magnificent scenery surrounding them. The sight of the snow-capped Atlas peaks towering on the horizon, coupled with the expansive Lake Lalla Takerkoust below, creates an unforgettable panorama.

The Kasbah d'If stands as a modern citadel, seemingly timeless in its grandeur despite being a recent addition to the landscape. Located at kilometer 27 on the Amizmiz road, it features an impressive entrance marked by two towers that guard the path leading to the hotel’s expansive 34-hectare property. The approach to this luxury retreat is accentuated by a winding trail that ascends towards the adobe structure, embellished with crenellated towers that evoke the historical essence of Moroccan architecture.

Conceived by Mohamed Ifkiren, a former journalist with a dream to recreate the kasbah of his childhood, this ambitious project took 16 years to realize. Ifkiren meticulously researched ancient building techniques, diving deep into architectural archives to ensure the authenticity of his design. Although the project faced hurdles, including being put on the market during its construction, it ultimately blossomed into the remarkable hotel it is today, where guests can indulge in opulence while surrounded by the raw beauty of the desert.
