Dramatic Incident on the Road: Drunk Driver Zigzags at Over 150 km/h, Crashes into Another Vehicle

Dangerous Driving Leads to Collision on Route Between Carnon and Montpellier

A harrowing incident occurred on June 13, when a reckless driver was reported zigzagging at speeds exceeding 150 km/h on the highway linking Carnon to Montpellier. Witnesses alerted the authorities as the intoxicated driver collided with a young woman’s car, sending her vehicle crashing against the guardrail. The alarming sequence of events unfolded around 9 AM, with the driver exhibiting erratic behavior that endangered not only his life but also the lives of other road users.

The chaotic driving was first observed by a female motorist who was overtaken by the reckless driver. Shortly after, near Pérols, she encountered the same individual again, this time moving slowly and weaving across all three lanes of traffic. In an attempt to navigate past him, she found her maneuver thwarted as the driver abruptly swerved into her lane, preventing her from safely overtaking. The dangerous driver then exited at 'Pérols' only to re-enter the highway, where he continued his perilous antics, alternating between rapid accelerations and sudden stops. Ultimately, he collided with the front of the young woman's vehicle, an action deemed intentional by several witnesses who observed the scene unfold.

Upon being apprehended, it was revealed that the driver had a blood alcohol concentration of 2 grams, significantly above the legal limit. The police intervened at the entrance of Montpellier, where they finally detained the volatile individual who was not only inebriated but also aggressive towards law enforcement. This incident highlights the critical need for vigilance and adherence to traffic laws to ensure the safety of all road users.
