Educational Inspector in Fez Faces Suspension Amid Sexual Harassment Claims
A significant administrative development has emerged regarding an educational inspector in Fez, Morocco. The regional directorate of the Ministry of National Education, Preschool Education, and Sports has made the decision to temporarily suspend the inspector from his duties. This suspension comes in connection with judicial proceedings against him, stemming from serious allegations of sexual harassment directed at a social studies teacher.
The administrative order included a halt to the inspector's monthly salary payments while allowing for the continuation of family allowances. This measure is pending the completion of the ongoing procedures related to his case, which is now navigating two parallel paths — administrative and judicial.
In addition to the suspension, the directorate has referred the inspector to a disciplinary council, which is expected to convene in the coming days. This council will evaluate his administrative situation and issue a ruling in accordance with the existing legal and regulatory frameworks.
On the judicial front, the public prosecutor has decided to proceed with the case against the inspector under conditions of release, as he is suspected of engaging in acts of sexual harassment through electronic messages and sexually explicit recordings, as well as inciting prostitution. The case has been forwarded to the misdemeanors court, which has scheduled the trial to commence on October 20, 2026.
The origins of this case trace back to a complaint filed by the social studies teacher, who accused the inspector of sending sexually explicit messages via the WhatsApp application, which included propositions for a sexual relationship without his consent. These allegations formed the basis for the subsequent judicial investigations initiated by the competent authorities.
As part of these investigations, both parties were heard, and necessary confrontations and inquiries were conducted. Reports indicate that the inspector acknowledged sending the disputed messages but claimed ignorance of the identity of the individual he was communicating with. Notably, the complainant had previously withdrawn his complaint, a factor taken into consideration when determining the decision to pursue the inspector under conditions of release, alongside his health status, as per prevailing information. However, this has not concluded the judicial process, which is set to be examined by the court during the upcoming session in October.
