Egypt's U-17 Squad Touches Down in Morocco for AFCON Participation
Today, the Egyptian national team, born in 2009, has officially arrived in Morocco to participate in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) for youth football, which also serves as a qualifier for the World Cup later this year. The delegation is headed by Dr. Walid Darwish, a member of the Egyptian Football Association's board of directors and the supervisor of the youth team, accompanied by the coaching, administrative, and medical staff, along with 26 players ready to compete.
The coaching staff of the youth team comprises several key figures, including Hossam Abdel-Latif as the head coach, Abd El-Sttar Sabri as the general coach, Karim Ayman as the assistant coach, and Amir Abdel-Hamid as the goalkeeper coach. Additionally, the managerial team includes Alaa Abdel-Aziz as the director of national teams, Shadi El-Sharif serving as the administrative manager, and Shadi El-Gelani as the performance analyst. The physical training duties are overseen by Mohamed Ezz, while the medical team is led by Amr Taha, with Mohamed El-Shashtawy as the physiotherapist, Ahmed Mamdouh as the massage therapist, and Wajih Hassan managing equipment. Ahmed Darwish is also part of the team as the media coordinator.
The roster for the youth team participating in the tournament includes a strong lineup of players across various positions, starting with the goalkeepers: Malik Amr Abdel-Khalek from Zamalek, Mohamed Obaid Atef from Al-Ahly, and Abdulaziz Mahmoud Abdulaziz from Pharco. The defense roster showcases promising talents, signalling a strong intention from the Egyptian team to excel in this significant tournament.
