El Mansouri Resumes Political Consultations in Morocco
On the morning of October 5, 2026, Fatima Zahra El Mansouri, the head of the Moroccan government, commenced a new phase of consultations with political parties aimed at forming the future government majority. This development follows the directive from the National Council of the Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM), which tasked El Mansouri with continuing these essential discussions. The resumption of these consultations, taking place away from the press's gaze, was initially announced by El Mansouri after the conclusion of the PAM's National Council meeting on Saturday afternoon.
According to sources familiar with the situation, Nabil Benabdallah, the Secretary-General of the Progress and Socialism Party (PPS), was the first to engage in this second round of discussions. During the PAM National Council, members expressed significant reservations about the potential inclusion of the National Rally of Independents (RNI) in the upcoming government formation. In response to these concerns, El Mansouri acknowledged the sentiments expressed by her colleagues.
Reports indicate that El Mansouri had requested a meeting with Benabdallah on the evening prior to the consultations, leading to their discussion in Rabat on Monday morning. Furthermore, the PPS is scheduled to hold its central committee meeting on Tuesday, where it will decide whether to participate in the forthcoming government. It is anticipated that this committee will delegate the final decision to Benabdallah.
