El Salvador's Friendly Match Against Morocco Canceled Due to FIFA Regulations

In a recent announcement, Yamil Bukele, the president of the Salvadoran Football Federation, confirmed that the upcoming friendly match against Morocco, scheduled for June 3 in Maryland, has been officially canceled. This decision comes in response to Morocco's notification that they would not be able to field their full squad for the match, leading them to propose a change in both the date and location of the encounter.

Morocco suggested relocating the match to their home country and maintaining the original date of June 3, offering to cover all travel expenses for the Salvadoran team. However, this proposal was ultimately rejected, as FIFA regulations prohibit the scheduling of two matches across different continents on the same FIFA date. Consequently, El Salvador has confirmed that they will instead face Qatar on June 6 in Los Angeles.

This match is set to take place at BMO Stadium; however, it will not be broadcast on television as requested by officials from the Middle Eastern nation. Both Qatar and Morocco are gearing up for the 2026 World Cup, which will be held from June 11 to July 18 across the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
