Rabat Salé Airport Reports Significant Growth in Passenger Numbers
In a notable development, Rabat Salé Airport has recorded a remarkable increase of 8.36% in passenger traffic during the first two months of 2026, welcoming a total of 376,611 travelers compared to 347,564 passengers during the same period last year. This growth, however, was not uniform, as February experienced a minor downturn, with passenger numbers declining by 2.3% to 170,102 from 174,099 in February 2025. This indicates a somewhat uneven recovery pattern in the aviation sector despite the overall positive trend.
The majority of the traffic was attributed to international flights, with 343,918 passengers traveling abroad—a rise of 8.58%. Domestic travel also saw an increase, with 32,693 passengers, which reflects a 6.06% growth. The number of aircraft movements at the airport also increased significantly, rising by 13.59% to 2,750 movements by the end of February, compared to 2,421 movements in the previous year. This surge in operational activity underscores the airport's vital role in connecting travelers both nationally and internationally.
Across the entire Moroccan aviation sector, total airport traffic reached approximately 5.9 million passengers by the end of February 2026, marking a substantial year-on-year increase of 7.91%. These statistics highlight the resilience of the Moroccan air travel market and its ongoing recovery from the impacts of the pandemic, indicating a positive outlook for the future of air travel in the region.
