The Strategic Importance of Moroccan Expats in National Development
On Monday, an important gathering took place in Casablanca, highlighting the significant role of Moroccans residing abroad (MRE) in supporting the strategic and developmental projects initiated by the Kingdom with a vision towards 2030. This communication event, organized at the Aïn Chock district prefecture to celebrate the National Day of MRE, was themed "Moroccans Living Abroad at the Service of Morocco's 2030 Initiatives." The meeting was presided over by Bouchra Berradi, the governor of the Aïn Chock prefecture, and brought together members of the Moroccan diaspora, local elected officials, and representatives from various administrative, security services, professional chambers, the private sector, and civil society.
Leveraging Expertise for Development
During the event, Ms. Berradi emphasized that Moroccans across the globe, equipped with their diverse scientific, professional, and economic expertise, represent a strategic asset in facilitating the Kingdom's developmental momentum and enhancing its influence both regionally and internationally. She pointed out that the initiatives set forth by Morocco by 2030 open up new avenues for harnessing the skills of those living abroad, particularly in critical areas such as investment, infrastructure, digital transformation, energy transition, scientific research, innovation, and sustainable development.
Ms. Berradi called upon the relevant services to strengthen communication and support mechanisms for MRE, urging an increase in cultural, economic, and scientific engagements to better understand their expectations and encourage their participation in national development projects. Furthermore, she reminded attendees that the prefecture's services are dedicated to coordinating with various administrations and security services to ensure the smooth handling of MRE affairs, facilitating their stay, and addressing their needs effectively.
The meeting also facilitated an open dialogue between the Moroccan expatriate community and representatives from different administrative services. The MRE attendees expressed their eagerness to actively contribute to the Kingdom's development and its strategic projects, while also raising specific challenges they face and offering suggestions to overcome them. In response, the prefectural authorities reaffirmed their commitment to mobilizing relevant services to meet MRE expectations, advocating for ongoing communication and continued efforts to ease their processes.
Additionally, the event featured several stands organized by administrative and technical institutions, presenting MRE with information about the services and facilities available to them.
