CAF Expands Media Opportunities for Upcoming Champions League Final

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) is excited to announce an increase in media access leading up to the highly anticipated TotalEnergies CAF Champions League 2025/26 Final, scheduled for Sunday, May 24, in Rabat, Morocco. This final will showcase a thrilling matchup between the Moroccan club AS FAR and South Africa's Mamelodi Sundowns, with kickoff set for 20:00 local time (19:00 GMT).

This initiative responds to the rising global interest in African football and the demand for comprehensive media coverage of the event. In a bid to foster engagement between fans and the game, CAF is implementing several new media access protocols, including mandatory Media Open Days that precede the final match. These efforts aim to create an immersive experience for journalists and media personnel covering the event.

Commencing on Thursday, three days prior to the final, the media will have the chance to interact with AS FAR during a dedicated Media Open Day. The following day, Mamelodi Sundowns will host its own Media Open Day in Rabat, providing journalists with opportunities to engage with players and coaches, enriching the narrative surrounding the match.

As part of its communications strategy, CAF emphasized the importance of nurturing relationships with media professionals, noting, "We must build strong ties with the media and ensure we give additional access. Media is key in the growth and development of African Football. The TotalEnergies CAF Champions League is growing in popularity, and we are keeping up with global standards." This commitment is further exemplified by planned press conferences with both teams' head coaches on Saturday at the Stade Prince Moulay Abdellah, the venue for the match.
