Expansion of Air Connections Between France and Morocco
The Moroccan National Tourism Office (ONMT) is making significant strides in enhancing air connectivity between France and Morocco. During the IFTM Top Resa event held in Paris from September 15 to 17, 2026, ONMT showcased its commitment to strengthening air connections, with an impressive 7% increase in capacity anticipated for the year. This initiative is set to benefit tourists and professionals alike, as it opens up new opportunities for travel and tourism between the two nations.
At this year's event, Morocco has established a substantial presence with a dedicated pavilion measuring 424 square meters, featuring 38 co-exhibitors from both public and private sectors. Among the participating entities are prominent airlines such as Royal Air Maroc and Air Arabia Morocco, along with representatives from various Moroccan regions like Fès-Meknès, Béni Mellal-Khénifra, and Agadir-Souss-Massa. Each of these stakeholders is keen to present their unique offerings and destinations to French and international tourism professionals.
Focus on Key Destinations and Regional Connectivity
Two Moroccan destinations are particularly highlighted this year: Essaouira and Dakhla. Essaouira is celebrated for its rich cultural heritage and coastal attractions, while Dakhla is positioning itself as a hotspot for water sports and international events, alongside prospects for business tourism development. The growing air capacity between France and Morocco is reflected in the numbers, with 6.36 million seats available in 2026 compared to 5.93 million in 2025, which translates to an additional 427,000 seats.
Moreover, regional connections are also seeing substantial growth. Cities such as Lyon and Toulouse are experiencing a 16% increase in flight capacity to Morocco, with Lille leading at 33%, followed by Rennes at 22% and Nantes at 9%. Paris remains the primary air gateway, accounting for over half of the total capacity and witnessing an 8% growth in connections.
Excitingly, the network is expected to expand even further in the upcoming winter season of 2026-2027, with new routes being introduced. These include connections from Bastia to Casablanca, Bordeaux to Agadir, and Nantes to Essaouira, among others. Airlines like Air Corsica, easyJet, Royal Air Maroc, Transavia France, and TUI Fly Belgium will operate these routes, thereby enhancing connectivity between various French cities and Moroccan destinations beyond the main hubs.
