Enhancing Financial Connectivity Between Casablanca and Istanbul

Strengthening Ties Between Financial Hubs

The Casablanca Finance City (CFC) and Istanbul Financial Center (IFC) have recently forged a partnership aimed at enhancing financial connectivity and promoting regional trade. This collaboration is set to bolster economic engagement not just within the region, but also across international markets. The agreement was officially signed on June 24, 2026, by Said Ibrahimi, the CEO of the Casablanca Finance City Authority, and Ahmet İhsan Erdem, the CEO of the Istanbul Financial Center.

Both financial powerhouses are committed to fostering cooperation in various sectors, including digital finance, investor engagement, knowledge sharing, and financial innovation. The collaboration seeks to create a sustainable framework for capital flows and improve the overall management of international financial centers, thereby facilitating a seamless exchange of financial services and expertise.

Strategic Importance of CFC and IFC

Casablanca Finance City stands as a pivotal financial hub in Africa, effectively linking businesses and investors from Europe, the Middle East, and the African continent. It provides a conducive environment for international corporations, financial institutions, and professional services firms to thrive. In the latest Global Financial Centers Index for 2026, CFC ranked fourth among financial centers in the Middle East and Africa, showcasing its significance in the global financial landscape.

Meanwhile, the Istanbul Financial Center, which recently opened a sprawling 1.3 million-square-meter financial district featuring 21 modern office towers, is positioning itself as a competitive player in the financial arena, vying for prominence alongside established centers such as those in Dubai and Casablanca. As it continues to develop, the IFC aims to carve out its niche as an emerging financial hub within the broader Eastern Europe and Central Asia context, currently ranking 101st globally.
