Introduction of a Smart Sound System at Mohammed V Airport
The National Airports Office (ONDA) is embarking on a journey to enrich the auditory identity of its airports by implementing a unique sound infrastructure at Mohammed V Airport in Casablanca. This initiative aims to digitalize and enhance the management of airport announcements, ensuring that the voices utilized for these announcements remain exclusive to the Office and are not exploited beyond the national borders. The modernization project will introduce a robust digital management system that will cover Terminals 1, 2, and the domestic flight area, thereby improving the overall passenger experience.
Under this ambitious plan, ONDA will establish a centralized and intelligent system designed to enhance sound quality, streamline boarding processes, and bolster operational efficiency. The project envisions the installation of 61 command posts equipped with specialized interfaces, allowing airport staff to manage and disseminate announcements effectively. Moreover, a dedicated network infrastructure will connect the terminals, complemented by sound sensors that will adjust announcement volumes based on ambient noise levels, ensuring optimal clarity and intelligibility.
Streamlined Boarding Process and Multilingual Management
One of the significant advancements in this project is the implementation of advanced Sequential Boarding management, which will facilitate organized passenger flows by segmenting announcements based on seat numbers, boarding zones, and travel classes. This innovative approach is designed to minimize wait times and enhance the efficiency of boarding operations. Targeted announcements will be made in specific areas, reducing disruptions and improving the overall operational effectiveness of the airport. Additionally, the system will feature Dynamic Script Arrangement (DSA) capabilities, automatically adapting message structures based on the relevant scripts and languages, with at least four specific boarding announcement templates available for use.
Crucially, the multilingual aspect of the announcements will include native pronunciation and accents for each supported language, including Arabic, French, English, and Spanish, with potential integration of regional dialects such as Amazigh for domestic flights. This approach ensures that passengers receive clear and comprehensible information, enhancing their travel experience. The ONDA's commitment to preserving a distinctive auditory identity for its airports reinforces the need for an exclusive sound profile, which will not be utilized outside the country.
In terms of reliability, the new system will be built on a modular and secure architecture, incorporating comprehensive supervision, reporting, and notification mechanisms. Every action taken from the announcement posts will be logged for complete traceability, allowing operators to monitor the status of announcement systems in real-time from a centralized interface. Audio supervision capabilities will maintain broadcast quality, ensuring critical announcements, especially during emergencies, receive maximum priority for immediate and targeted dissemination.
