The Association for the Care of the Blind in Morocco inaugurated its second national forum in Salé on Wednesday morning, under the honorary patronage of Princess Lalla Lamia Salek. This significant event saw the participation of approximately 50 representatives from various branches across the country, all committed to improving the lives of visually impaired individuals.
This forum, themed "Towards Institutional Performance for More Effective Branches," aims to enhance the capabilities and performance of local branches through the exchange of experiences, discussions about improving administrative and financial management, reinforcing institutional communication, and accelerating the pace of digital transformation. Additionally, it focuses on supporting the preparation of social projects and building partnerships that can further these goals.
According to Salah Eddine Semmar, the Secretary-General of the Association, this forum brings together the heads of various branches nationwide and marks a qualitative step in enhancing the programs and services they offer. He emphasized that the meeting's objective is to improve the working environment of the branches and to qualify them to enhance their performance, aligning with the association's foundational principles and objectives set forth by the organization's president, Princess Lalla Lamia Salek.
Semmar noted that the discussions during this second forum would concentrate on unifying the vision among the different branches and enhancing communication channels, especially through digital media. This strategy aims to expedite the exchange of information and address issues more effectively. He also highlighted the importance of paying special attention to branches located in remote areas by adopting approaches that consider their unique characteristics and support their capabilities to provide better services.
Latifa Bilali, the head of the Marrakech branch and representative of the participating branches, explained that this meeting serves as an opportunity to discuss ways to unify and develop the administrative management and institutional governance of the branches, thereby improving their effectiveness and adapting to their evolving needs. One of the priorities discussed includes the establishment of digital platforms specific to the branches for sharing their activities and experiences. Additionally, there is a strong focus on enhancing psychological support for the visually impaired by providing specialized personnel within various branches to improve the quality of guidance and interaction.
Moreover, Bilali mentioned the potential for supporting the artistic talents of the visually impaired and creating spaces to showcase and promote their work. There is also encouragement for them to pursue scientific fields by providing appropriate pedagogical and didactic resources that enable them to successfully follow this path.
Rachid Sabbahi, the communication officer at the Association, indicated that the second national forum serves as an occasion to evaluate the outcomes of the first session held in Marrakech last year and to assess the extent to which the goals set during that meeting have been achieved. He added that this meeting also aims to build on the central organization's working experience to enhance regional performance, whether in terms of working methods or tools, particularly by activating programs within training and educational social centers.
Sabbahi affirmed that the challenge lies in creating greater opportunities for the integration of the visually impaired and those with low vision across various regions of the Kingdom. This objective will be pursued by providing material support and enhancing follow-up mechanisms. He emphasized that achieving this goal primarily involves transferring the agreements and partnerships established by the organization at the central level to the regional level, either through regional directorates of partner sectors or by building collaborative relationships with elected bodies.
