Celebrating Namboo in Marrakech: A Spring Sports Extravaganza

In a vibrant and competitive spring atmosphere, the city of Marrakech hosted a remarkable event in the sport of Namboo, reflecting the increasing dynamism of this discipline at the regional level. The event showcased the concerted efforts aimed at promoting Namboo and expanding its participation among various age groups. Organized by the Namboo Morocco Foundation, under the auspices of the Moroccan Royal Jiu-Jitsu Federation and in coordination with relevant entities, this special sports day took place on Sunday, April 26, 2026, at the Lalla Meryem Covered Gymnasium in the Al-Mohammid neighborhood of Marrakech.

A Day Filled with Training and Competition

The event featured a rich and diverse program divided into two main sessions. During the morning session, an open training was conducted, led by members of the technical committee, including Professor Said Abahani (7th-degree black belt) and Professor Mehdi Alami Idrissi (6th-degree black belt). They focused on advanced warm-up techniques and 'Ki Namboo Taiso' exercises, before transitioning into practical sessions in 'Randori' and 'Gorandori'. The morning concluded with specialized training on 'Kata' techniques and self-defense practices.

In the afternoon, the same gymnasium hosted a regional tournament in the 'Gorandori' competition category, featuring participants from the youth, juniors, and seniors categories. This tournament was notably successful, both in terms of organization and attendance. Numerous parents of the young competitors were present, alongside prominent sports figures, including Abdul Qadir Lahbab, the Vice President of the federation, and Mustafa Boumia, the President of the Namboo Morocco Foundation. The event also welcomed Aziz Ben Ayoub, the foundation's representative in Marrakech, along with several distinguished guests.

The sports day concluded with the awarding of medals and certificates of appreciation to participants, along with the presentation of black belt certificates of various degrees to those who successfully passed their examinations in January.
