MedFilm Festival Returns to Rabat

The MedFilm Festival in Morocco is back in Rabat from October 1 to October 3, 2026, marking its fifth edition. This year’s event promises an exciting program filled with film screenings, engaging discussions, and insightful workshops aimed at enhancing cultural dialogue between Italy and Morocco. Attendees can look forward to Italian premieres, masterclasses, and a special award ceremony honoring emerging talents in filmmaking. The festival opens with the screening of *Una cosa vicina*, alongside two short films, *Malumore* and *Z.O.*, directed by Loris G. Nese. Following the screenings, a masterclass led by director and producer Chiara Marotta will provide valuable insights into the filmmaking process.

As the festival progresses, on October 2 at 10:00 a.m., production designer Carmine Guarino will conduct a masterclass at ISMAC. Later that day, at 6:00 p.m., the audience can enjoy five short films created by students at the institute, culminating in a screening of *A Sad and Beautiful World* by Cyril Aris at 7:30 p.m. The festival will conclude on October 3 at the Cinema 7eme Art with an awards ceremony recognizing the talents of ISMAC’s young filmmakers, followed by the screening of *Gioia mia* directed by Margherita Spampinato. The winner of the young talent award will receive an invitation to participate as a jury member in the 32nd edition of the MedFilm Festival in Rome, highlighting the festival's commitment to fostering new talent in the film industry.

Supported by the Italian Embassy and the Italian Cultural Institute, the event is organized in collaboration with several cultural organizations, including the Methexis Association, Fondation Hiba, Cinémathèque Marocaine, and ISMAC. This vibrant festival not only showcases Italian cinema but also strengthens the cultural ties between Italy and Morocco, making it an unmissable event for film enthusiasts and creatives alike.
