Experience the Vibrant Spirit of Marrakech at El Fenn's Rooftop Residency in London

Immerse Yourself in Moroccan Culture This Summer

This summer, the enchanting spirit of Marrakech is set to captivate the heart of London. From June 25 to August 31, 2026, the renowned El Fenn hotel, a hallmark of the ochre city, will establish its artistic and culinary presence on the rooftop of the prestigious Broadwick Soho. The panoramic bar, "Flute," will transform into an exclusive summer residency, offering a complete immersion into Moroccan culture through contemporary art, exquisite gastronomy, musical performances, and cultural interactions. This unique experience serves as an extension of one of Morocco's most iconic hotels, designed to awaken the senses and invite guests into a world of artistic expression.

A Moroccan Oasis in the Heart of Soho

To recreate the unique ambiance of Marrakech's famous rooftop, the Broadwick Soho will pay meticulous attention to detail. The visual DNA of El Fenn will permeate the bar and its terrace, featuring the iconic red and white stripes, suspended Moroccan lanterns, handcrafted ceramics by local potters, bold geometric printed cushions, and custom zellige tables crafted by Moroccan artisans. Enhancing the immersive experience, visitors will be greeted by a life-sized camel and the intoxicating scent of fresh mint, a signature olfactory element of authentic hospitality.

El Fenn, which means "The Art" in Arabic, places creativity at the core of its identity—a passion shared by the Broadwick Soho. In collaboration with artist Hassan Hajjaj and Atay Atelier, this residency will spotlight the new wave of Moroccan creativity. Since its inception in 2004, the hotel has championed works that challenge conventions and engage in dialogue with tradition. Two contemporary Moroccan artists will receive special recognition during this event in London:

  • Ismail Zaidy, who, from his family studio in Marrakech, creates poetic and minimalist images where textiles and solitary silhouettes evoke space and memory.
  • Fatimazohra Serri, an artist based in Nador, who explores themes of femininity, identity, and the body within conservative contexts, offering a nuanced and powerful perspective on contemporary Moroccan society.

This residency is designed as a total immersive experience that goes beyond visual art. Regarding flavors, the menu will draw inspiration from Moroccan traditions, featuring creations such as batbout with smoked eggplant zaalouk, lamb briouats with labneh and smoked paprika, and charcoal-grilled octopus. These dishes will be complemented by the hotel’s signature cocktails, including the Hibiscus Margarita, El Fenn Mule, and Marrakech Negroni.

Cultural programming will include lectures and artistic discussions, notably featuring Vanessa Branson, co-founder of El Fenn, to explore the intersections between heritage and creativity. The musical atmosphere will be enriched by DJs and musicians blending North African sounds with traditional rhythms and modern desert blues. Additionally, a pop-up shop will showcase artisanal creations (tote bags, T-shirts, coasters) celebrating Moroccan craftsmanship.

“El Fenn has always been more than just a hotel: it is an experience. Bringing this magic of Marrakech to a venue as bold as 'Flute' feels like a natural affinity,” emphasizes Amine Belkhayat Zoukari, Director of El Fenn. Joshua Gardner, General Manager of Broadwick Soho, adds, “This collaboration provides Londoners with the chance to discover Moroccan art, gastronomy, and culture without leaving the city.”

El Fenn (www.el-fenn.com) is renowned for its theatrical aesthetic and refined luxury. Born from the union of eight traditional riads in the heart of Marrakech's Medina, this boutique hotel boasts one of the finest collections of contemporary art in the country. It has been a proud member of AKAN, a Moroccan Collection, since November 2025.
