Exploring Recent Developments in Civil Procedure Law: A National Conference at Cadi Ayyad University

The Faculty of Legal, Economic, and Social Sciences at Cadi Ayyad University in Marrakech hosted a national scientific conference on April 24 and 25, 2026, focusing on the latest developments in civil procedure law. This event brought together numerous academic and professional stakeholders from the legal and judicial fields, creating a vibrant forum for discussion and collaboration.

The conference, organized in partnership with the Justice Sector Employees Association, the Laboratory of Civil and Real Estate Legal Studies, and the Private Law Department, alongside the Souss-Massa Center for Contemporary Legal and Judicial Studies, provided a platform for in-depth discussions regarding the transformations presented in the draft civil procedure law and their implications for the justice system.

The opening session was graced by distinguished figures from the justice sector as well as representatives from the organizing bodies. Emphasis was placed on the crucial need to enhance scientific research and its connection to professional practice, particularly in the context of improving the efficiency of judicial administration and record-keeping.

A highlight of the conference was a special tribute to Professor Dr. Abdelkarim Taleb, recognizing his significant academic and administrative contributions. During the opening lecture, he delivered a critical analysis of the new legal text, shedding light on practical challenges and future obstacles that may arise.

Throughout the two days of the conference, a rich exchange of ideas occurred, with contributions from judges, lawyers, university professors, court clerks, and research students. Participants discussed various aspects related to the reform of civil procedure, fostering an atmosphere of open dialogue and diverse approaches.

All attendees agreed that these recent legal developments present precise challenges that necessitate achieving a balance between expediting judicial processes and safeguarding the rights of litigants, thus reinforcing the principles of a fair trial within the judicial framework.
