Exploring the Intersection of Law and Sports: A Cultural Insight from Marrakech

On May 22, 2026, the Documentation and Cultural Activities Center, part of the Regional Delegation for Islamic Affairs in the Marrakech-Safi region, in collaboration with the Mohammed VI Foundation for Persons with Disabilities - Marrakech Center, hosted the eighteenth edition of the intellectual series "Nectar of a Book". This event was dedicated to presenting and discussing the book "Law and Sports," bringing together academic efforts and cultural discussions focused on the intricate relationship between legislation and societal transformations within the realm of sports.

This scholarly gathering took place in the library of the Mohammed VI Administrative and Cultural Complex located in Bab Igli, Marrakech. The center's ongoing cultural vision aims to utilize books as a means to stimulate contemporary questions, enhance the presence of scientific research in public discourse, and reconnect knowledge with evolving social issues, particularly in the sports sector, which faces continuous organizational and legislative challenges.

Under the moderation of Dr. Ahmed Hadida, the discussions featured diverse perspectives on the book, provided by a distinguished group of professors and researchers. Notable contributors included Dr. Riad Fakhri, a professor at the Faculty of Legal and Political Sciences in Settat, Dr. Younes Al-Azraq Al-Hassouni from the Sports Science Institute at the same university, along with Dr. Hassan Zardani and Dr. Nadia Ayoub from the Faculty of Legal, Economic, and Social Sciences in Marrakech, and Mr. Moulay Hafid Rjaila, who oversees sports affairs at the Regional Academy of Education and Training in Marrakech-Safi.

The scientific dialogues emphasized the transformations in the relationship between law and sports, especially in light of the expanding legislative framework governing sports at both national and international levels. The discussions highlighted the challenges related to governance, regulation, and professionalism, underscoring the emergence of "Sports Law" as an independent field of knowledge that requires further academic grounding and research development.

Furthermore, the presentations addressed the current state of the legal framework governing sports in Morocco, pointing out the need for greater alignment with new dynamics in the sector, whether concerning management, competitiveness, or openness to international standards. This alignment is crucial to strengthen sports as a driver for societal and economic development.

The event concluded with an open discussion session, where questions interacted with the academic insights presented, aiming to broaden the discourse surrounding legal issues related to sports practice and deepen awareness of the importance of scientific research in accompanying this transformation.

At the end of the meeting, participants expressed their appreciation for the scientific value that the book "Law and Sports" adds to the specialized legal library. They recognized the significant role played by the "Nectar of a Book" series in invigorating the cultural life of the Marrakech-Safi region, promoting a scholarly tradition based on dialogue and knowledge exchange among researchers and enthusiasts.

This event also received special acknowledgment for the contributions of the Mohammed VI Foundation for Persons with Disabilities and its team in successfully facilitating this cultural occasion, as well as the high academic caliber that characterized the interventions of the participating professors, reflecting a commitment to the service of knowledge and the establishment of research and scientific thinking values.
