Fes Appeals Court Sets Date for Decision on 'Bouz Flow' Case
The Appeals Chamber of the Fes Court has determined that the case involving the rapper Jawad Asrari, known artistically as "Bouz Flow," will enter deliberation ahead of the issuance of a verdict, with the decision set to be announced on June 18 of this year. This move comes after the completion of discussions regarding the case, despite the absence of both the accused and his defense team during the last session.
Previously, the Court of First Instance in Safrou sentenced "Bouz Flow" to three months of suspended imprisonment and imposed a fine of 2,000 dirhams in December of last year. The roots of this case date back to November of the previous year when law enforcement apprehended the artist and referred him to court over allegations related to the content of some of his musical works.
The prosecution has charged the artist with insulting an organized body and disrespecting public officials through phrases deemed to undermine the respect due to them and their duties, based on the content found in several of his songs. This case has drawn significant attention, raising discussions about freedom of expression and the boundaries of artistic content in Morocco.
