Fes Message Affirms AI's Role in Serving Humanity and Enhancing Civilizational Values

Fes Conference Highlights the Human-Centric Approach to Artificial Intelligence

The recent international conference titled "The Future of Human Civilization in the Era of Artificial Intelligence" concluded in Fes, Morocco, with the issuance of the "Fes Message." This document emphasizes the essential need to harness artificial intelligence (AI) for the benefit of humanity and to strengthen shared human values. The event, hosted by the Euro-Mediterranean University under the patronage of King Mohammed VI, saw significant engagement from over 2,000 participants, including prominent global personalities and academics from 75 different countries. Among the key speakers at the opening session was Mohammed Al-Issa, whose insights contributed to the depth of discussions.

The concluding statement from the conference underscored that AI represents a substantial opportunity for advancing human progress, provided it is developed within a framework that upholds human dignity and universal values. Participants called for the adoption of principles such as transparency, accountability, and fairness in the governance of these technologies. Furthermore, there was a strong emphasis on addressing challenges related to algorithmic bias and data quality, with a call for the establishment of flexible international regulatory frameworks and enhanced evaluation mechanisms to foster trust in intelligent systems.

The "Fes Message" also highlighted the critical importance of international collaboration to bridge technological gaps and tackle issues related to cybersecurity risks, misinformation, and hate speech. It advocated for the development of AI models that respect cultural and linguistic specificities. Additionally, the message reaffirmed that investing in youth and digital infrastructure is fundamental for building an inclusive digital future. It stressed the need to direct AI towards promoting peace, sustainable development, and fostering closer ties between civilizations.
