The Primary Criminal Chamber for Financial Crimes at the Court of Appeal in Fez has handed down a significant ruling, sentencing the director of the "Hassan Ibn Thabit" school group in Berkane to two years in prison along with a fine of 20,000 dirhams. This decision comes as a result of his involvement in serious financial irregularities that were uncovered by regional and provincial inspection committees.
In addition to the prison sentence, the court ruled in the civil case that the accused, identified as Hicham M., must repay an amount of 192,800 dirhams to the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of National Education in Berkane. Furthermore, he has been ordered to pay a civil compensation of 20,000 dirhams, and the court has determined that the costs shall be borne by him, establishing the minimum enforcement. The court also decided to revoke a previous arrest warrant issued by the investigating judge.
The case against Hicham M. revolves around charges of embezzlement and misappropriation of public funds, as well as the forgery and use of a bank check. These allegations were pivotal in the court's issuance of its initial default judgment against the accused while concurrently ruling in favor of the civil plaintiff.
