Finland's Minister Sari Essayah Leads Trade Mission to Morocco

Strengthening Bilateral Relations Between Finland and Morocco

In an effort to strengthen bilateral relations, Finland's Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, Sari Essayah, is undertaking an official visit to Morocco from March 24 to March 27, 2026. This trade mission aims to bolster cooperation particularly in the crucial sectors of forestry and water management. Accompanied by a delegation of Finnish businesses, Minister Essayah's objective is to showcase Finland's expertise in sustainable forest management and innovative water solutions, which are essential for addressing environmental challenges.

During her stay, Minister Essayah is scheduled to engage with several Moroccan officials, including ministers responsible for agriculture, forestry, and water resources. Meetings with institutional stakeholders, such as the National Agency for Water and Forests (ANEF), are also part of the agenda, with discussions focusing on developing partnerships in research. "Morocco represents a significant growth market for our sawing industry, and the opportunities for cooperation in water management are considerable. We aim to enhance Finland's reputation as a leader in sustainable and innovative bioeconomic solutions," stated Minister Essayah, highlighting the potential for collaboration.

This visit is part of broader efforts to solidify economic ties between Rabat and Helsinki, following a recent visit by Finland's Foreign Minister, Elina Valtonen, who expressed support for Morocco's autonomy plan under its sovereignty, calling it a highly viable solution. The diplomatic engagements underscore Finland's commitment to fostering strong partnerships with Morocco, facilitating mutual growth and development in key sectors.
