Crackdown on Cocaine Trafficking in Marrakech
On the evening of October 5, 2026, law enforcement officials in Marrakech successfully dismantled an organized criminal network involved in the trafficking of hard drugs, specifically cocaine. The operation was conducted by the local judicial police, with the support of the drug enforcement unit, leading to the arrest of five Senegalese nationals suspected of engaging in the illicit production and distribution of cocaine.
According to a security source, the operation was initiated based on precise intelligence that prompted a surprise raid on a residential villa located in the Gueliz district. During the intervention, a sixth suspect attempted to escape by jumping over the villa’s wall, resulting in severe injuries that necessitated his hospitalization under police guard for urgent medical treatment.
Search operations conducted within the villa yielded a significant quantity of hard drugs, alongside sophisticated equipment believed to be used for weighing, packaging, and preparing cocaine for sale on the black market. The five detained suspects are currently being held in police custody as judicial investigations proceed, overseen by the relevant public prosecutor's office, to establish the local and international connections of this criminal network and apprehend all individuals involved in these illegal activities.
