Wealth Rankings of Morocco's Billionaires in 2026
According to the prestigious American magazine Forbes, the Moroccan billionaire Othman Benjelloun has retained his position as the richest individual in Morocco, boasting a net worth of approximately $1.7 billion. He is closely followed by the Prime Minister, Aziz Akhannouch, who ranks second with a net worth of $1.6 billion. This data highlights the significant financial prowess of these Moroccan figures and the growth of their wealth in recent years.
The report reveals that Benjelloun, who serves as the CEO of the BMCE Bank group, has experienced a substantial increase in his wealth since 2020. His net worth has risen from $1.3 billion to $1.7 billion by 2026, marking an impressive annual growth of $100 million. Akhannouch has also seen a recovery in his fortune, climbing back to $1.6 billion, which represents a similar increase of $100 million compared to the previous year, after experiencing a decline in his wealth in 2024.
Landing in third place on the list of Morocco's billionaires is businessman Anas Safrioui, who specializes in the real estate sector, with a net worth of $1.3 billion. However, unlike his counterparts, Safrioui has faced a significant downturn in his wealth, losing approximately $300 million compared to last year's ranking, a decline that reflects the growing pressures within the real estate market.
Global Wealth Landscape and the Dominance of Tech Giants
On a global scale, the wealth landscape remains largely predictable, with Elon Musk, the billionaire entrepreneur behind Tesla and SpaceX, widening the gap at the top of the Forbes list of the world's richest individuals. Musk's net worth has skyrocketed to $839 billion, nearly double that of the previous year when it stood at around $342 billion.
Following Musk, Larry Page and Sergey Brin rank next with net worths of $257 billion and $237 billion, respectively. This underscores the continued dominance of the technology and artificial intelligence sectors in shaping global wealth in 2026.
Forbes noted that thanks to the explosion in artificial intelligence, thriving markets, and favorable financial policies, a record 3,428 entrepreneurs, investors, and heirs have made it to the Forbes Billionaires list this year, representing an increase of 400 billionaires compared to last year.
