Rabat Launches the Grand Prix JIDAR
After ten successful editions, the JIDAR Street Art Festival in Rabat is entering an exciting new phase with the introduction of the Grand Prix JIDAR, a groundbreaking initiative that allows the public to directly participate in selecting the best mural from the festival. Under the esteemed patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the festival has been instrumental in transforming the walls of Rabat into an open-air museum, positioning the city as a prominent global destination for street art. The Grand Prix aims to preserve and celebrate this artistic legacy, ensuring that the vibrant culture of street art continues to thrive in Rabat.
Public Participation and Voting Process
The most distinctive feature of the Grand Prix JIDAR is its unique jury: the public. Residents, visitors, and urban art enthusiasts are invited to cast their votes for their favorite mural from the artworks created during the festival's 2025 edition. Voting will be open from March 20 to April 16 and can be accessed through the dedicated platform at grandprixjidar.ma, as well as via the official festival website and its social media channels. The artist with the highest number of votes will win the prestigious award, reinforcing the essence of street art as a popular, outdoor art form that belongs to everyone.
The Grand Prix is designed to be an annual event, establishing a lasting tradition within the festival. Each year, new murals will compete for the title of mural of the year, fostering a continuous connection between past and future works. The voting period conveniently precedes the next edition of the JIDAR Festival, scheduled for April 17, thus creating a bridge between previous creations and upcoming artistic expressions while keeping the public engaged throughout the year.
