Hakim Ziyech Faces New Injury Setback Ahead of CAF Confederation Cup

Hakim Ziyech's Injury Update

Hakim Ziyech, the talented Moroccan international and Wydad Casablanca midfielder, is currently sidelined due to an injury to his hamstrings, which has persisted for over ten days. This unfortunate setback means that Ziyech will miss the first leg of the CAF Confederation Cup quarter-finals against Olympic Safi, scheduled for this Sunday at El Massira Stadium. His injury occurred during a league match against Rabat on March 4, where the team suffered a narrow defeat of 1-2. Since that match, the nearly 33-year-old player has been following a tailored rehabilitation program and has not yet returned to training with his teammates.

This absence comes after Ziyech was already missing from the Wydad's recent victory against Union Touarga Sportif, where the team won 4-3 in the Botola league last weekend. As a result, the former Chelsea and Ajax player will now miss two consecutive matches for the Casablanca club. The timeline for his return for the second leg of the quarter-final remains uncertain and will depend on the progression of his recovery in the coming days. So far this season, Ziyech has made six appearances across all competitions for Wydad, contributing two goals and one assist.
