Severe Weather Alert: Heat Wave and Thunderstorms Forecasted
The General Directorate of Meteorology has issued a warning regarding an impending heat wave accompanied by thunderstorms and hail across various regions of Morocco, beginning today, Friday, and lasting until Sunday. This alert is part of an updated orange-level warning, indicating significant weather events that residents should prepare for.
According to the meteorological agency's forecast, temperatures are expected to soar between 44 and 47 degrees Celsius in the provinces of Taroudant, Zagora, Tata, Assa-Zag, Smara, Boujdour, Oued Ed-Dahab, and Oussard from today through Sunday. Additionally, a similar weather pattern is anticipated for Friday and Saturday in the provinces of Beni Mellal, Fquih Ben Salah, and Kelaa des Sraghna, with temperatures ranging from 42 to 44 degrees Celsius.
In addition to the intense heat, the agency has indicated that thunderstorms, producing rainfall of 20 to 30 millimeters along with hail and gusty winds, are expected in the provinces of Khénifra, Boulemane, Figuig, Ifrane, and Midelt. These weather conditions are predicted to occur today from 1 PM until 11 PM, necessitating caution from residents in these areas.
