High-Speed Train Extension to Marrakech Set for 2029 Completion

Transforming Transportation in Morocco

Abdel Samad Ghiouh, the Minister of Transport and Logistics, has announced that the extension of the high-speed train service to the city of Marrakech is expected to be completed by the end of 2029, just ahead of the 2030 World Cup. This ambitious project is poised to revolutionize the transportation landscape in Morocco, offering significantly reduced travel times between major cities.

Currently, the journey between Tangier and Marrakech takes approximately six hours; however, with the introduction of the high-speed train, this time will be slashed to just three hours. Furthermore, travel between Tangier and the capital city of Rabat will also see improvements, with the duration reduced from one hour and fifteen minutes to a mere one hour. Such advancements in rail transport not only promise to enhance convenience for travelers but also aim to stimulate economic growth and connectivity within the region.
