New Digital Platform for Voter Registration
The Ministry of Interior has recently issued a significant decision, published in the official gazette, concerning the organization of the electronic platform dedicated to public voter registration lists. This decision also outlines the procedures for submitting registration and transfer requests through the digital interface. Under this new directive, registered voters now have the opportunity to personally review their information included in the lists or in their amendment tables during each revision process.
Decision No. 503.26, issued on March 13, 2026, establishes a digital platform named “www.listeselectorales.ma” as part of the implementation of Law No. 57.11. This platform reorganizes the management of voter registration lists electronically, overseen by an information system linked to the relevant departments within the Ministry of Interior. According to the provisions of the decision, citizens can now submit their registration or transfer requests online, adhering to specified conditions and deadlines.
Accessibility and Procedures for Voter Registration
The platform allows voters to access their personal data, with the option to add additional information such as email addresses or phone numbers. The submission window for requests is open from April 1 to December 31 each year, in addition to the period extending from January 18 to 24 during annual or exceptional review processes, as well as the legally defined timeframes for access. Furthermore, non-registered citizens, whether within Morocco or abroad, may apply for registration via the platform if they meet the legal requirements. This also includes voters wishing to transfer their registrations between municipalities, districts, or electoral constituencies within the same municipality.
The decision stipulates that non-registered citizens, especially those who have recently obtained their national identity card, may be notified via email or phone to encourage them to register. Applications are submitted by filling out an electronic form requiring accurate information; any incomplete or incorrect submissions will be canceled. After entering their information, applicants must confirm its accuracy and will receive a code via email to validate their request.
Upon completing this process, applicants can download a receipt that includes their request number and registration date, although this does not constitute final confirmation of registration, which remains subject to the approval of the relevant administrative committee. The applications are forwarded to local administrative authorities, which conduct an initial verification to ensure the information's accuracy before presenting it to the administrative committee for a decision.
Once a decision is made, it is entered into the information system, and applicants are notified of the outcome via email, with explanations provided in cases of rejection. The website also publishes the results of the committee's deliberations, including accepted and rejected requests, along with the reasons for these outcomes, as well as any deletions and complaints submitted. Voters can check their personal data and confirm their registration status, as well as find out their polling station for upcoming elections by entering their national ID number along with their last name or date of birth.
Importantly, the decision emphasizes that access to this data is personal, allowing individuals to view only their specific information, under the threat of legal action for breaches. Voters can also update their information, including contact details, to receive notifications related to elections, such as their polling locations.
