Spanish Food Safety Agency Issues Mustard Allergy Alert

The Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition (AESAN) has issued a crucial alert aimed at individuals with mustard allergies due to the presence of this undeclared ingredient in a specific pasta product. The product in question is "cabello de ángel" (angel hair pasta) from the brand TRIA, which originates from Morocco. As a precautionary measure, AESAN strongly advises individuals who are allergic to mustard and may have this product in their homes to refrain from consuming it.

It is important to note that the consumption of this product does not pose any risk to the general population. According to information provided to AESAN, the initial distribution of the affected product occurred in several regions including Andalusia, Catalonia, Valencia, Murcia, and the Basque Country. However, health authorities caution that the product may have been redistributed to other autonomous communities, which underscores the importance of public awareness.

AESAN continues to recommend that anyone with a mustard allergy who possesses this product should not consume it. The alert has been communicated through the Coordinated Rapid Information Exchange System (SCIRI) to ensure that the affected units are withdrawn from retail channels promptly.
