Strengthening Iraq-Spain Relations

The Iraqi Ambassador to the Kingdom of Spain, Dr. Ali Shamran Hajim, recently met with Ms. Carmen Magarinios Casal, the Director General for Maghreb, Mediterranean, and Middle Eastern Affairs at the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union, and Cooperation. This meeting is part of a series of visits conducted by the ambassador to connect with various Spanish officials, aimed at fostering mutual understanding and exploring avenues for collaboration between the two nations.

During their discussion, both parties reviewed the exemplary bilateral relations that exist between Iraq and Spain, highlighting the positive developments that have transpired over time. They underscored their commitment to continue coordination and collaboration, expressing a mutual desire to enhance joint efforts across diverse fields, especially concerning regional and international issues of shared interest.

Furthermore, the two sides deliberated on finalizing the signing of several memorandums of understanding that have been agreed upon, particularly in crucial sectors such as water resources, tourism, and sports. They also addressed the importance of mutual support for candidacies in international positions and memberships in international and regional organizations, along with reinforcing cooperation in the economic, commercial, and investment domains.

Additionally, they exchanged viewpoints on several pressing regional and international matters, reaffirming the significance of ongoing coordination and consultation between Iraq and Spain to further strengthen their bilateral relationship.
