Acted in Morocco

More than two years after the devastating earthquake in September 2023, the need for reconstruction and recovery in Morocco remains significant. There are ongoing delays in rehabilitating essential infrastructure, accessing vital services, and stimulating economic recovery, particularly in rural and isolated areas. These vulnerabilities are compounded by broader structural challenges, including youth unemployment, territorial inequalities, and limited access to healthcare and education, which disproportionately affect marginalized communities.

Since 2023, Acted has been present in Morocco, implementing response, recovery, and sustainable development programs in the provinces of Taroudant, El Haouz, and Chichaoua, in close partnership with local organizations. To date, over 23,700 individuals have benefitted from initiatives focused on rehabilitating essential infrastructure, improving water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH), promoting resilient reconstruction, supporting green livelihoods, and providing vocational training. Acted is also committed to long-term initiatives, such as supporting women’s cooperatives, enhancing the digital transformation of civil society organizations, and developing reconstruction projects that incorporate sustainable and heritage approaches.

Main Responsibilities

Under the authority of the Country Finance Manager, the Finance Volunteer will assist the country finance team with internal financial control for the mission. Specifically, they will be responsible for verifying and cross-checking accounting data (PRATIC), managing financial resources, and utilizing data control tools (TITANIC).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the accounting compliance of Acted.
  • Monitor monthly reporting tools, including accounting reviews, financial assessments, cost control, and HR follow-ups.
  • Assist with daily operational tasks.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Master’s degree in Finance, Audit, Business Management, or equivalent.
  • Strong skills in finance and accounting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, with a strong command of essential database management formulas.
  • Able to take on responsibilities and work under pressure.
  • Excellent communication skills, with strong writing abilities in both French and English.
  • Complete mastery of the Microsoft Office Suite.

Compensation and Benefits

Status: Volunteer (internship agreement not mandatory)

  • Living allowance of $300 USD.
  • Accommodation in a guesthouse and meals provided by Acted.
  • Social security, health insurance (MSH), and repatriation assistance (SOS International) covered by Acted.
  • Transport to the mission and return ticket fully covered (to the address specified in the employment contract).
  • Visa expenses covered by Acted.
  • A week of pre-departure preparation including four days of immersive safety training.
  • Psychological support (appointments with a professional).
  • This position is classified as an international role within Acted's recruitment framework, therefore eligibility for an international contract is required.
