Kazakhstan Strengthens Diplomatic Ties with Morocco
The inaugural ceremony of the Honorary Consulate of Kazakhstan in Marrakech took place on Wednesday, presided over by Saulekul Sailaukyzy, the extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of Kazakhstan to Morocco. During this significant event, Younes Essassi, the president and founder of Anfa Realties Group, was officially appointed as the honorary consul, representing the interests of Kazakhstan within the Marrakech jurisdiction.
Essassi's primary responsibilities will include safeguarding the rights and interests of Kazakh nationals residing or visiting the region. Additionally, he will work towards fostering connections between economic, institutional, cultural, and tourism stakeholders from both Kazakhstan and Morocco, aiming to strengthen bilateral cooperation.
In her address, Ambassador Sailaukyzy expressed that the establishment of this honorary consulate marks a pivotal moment in enhancing Kazakhstan's consular presence in Morocco. This local representation is expected to deepen the relationship between the two nations and facilitate the development of bilateral cooperation, she noted.
The ambassador also highlighted the progression of relations between Kazakhstan and Morocco, which were officially established on May 26, 1992. Recent milestones include the opening of Kazakhstan's embassy in Rabat in December 2020, and the upcoming implementation of a reciprocal visa exemption regime set to take effect in March 2025, allowing stays of up to thirty days. Furthermore, the creation of a Kazakhstan-Morocco business council has been initiated to bolster economic ties.
The honorary consulate will be located within the project Les Villas d'Anfa Marrakech, which is the first real estate initiative by Anfa Realties Group in the city.
