World Cup Circuit Kicks Off in Oslo
This weekend marks the exciting commencement of the 2026-2027 Western European League of the World Cup Circuit, taking place in Oslo, featuring three Swiss riders. The event is part of a thrilling weekend that also includes a Nations Cup in Rabat and competitions in Chevenez.
As the world elite converge in Oslo for the first of the thirteen stages leading to the finals in Gothenburg, this year’s 48th edition promises to be spectacular. The inaugural finals in this location date back to 1979, making it a historic venue for equestrian sports. Competitors will vie for qualification, adhering to the same criteria as the previous year, with the notable exception of Gothenburg's absence.
On Sunday at 15:30, the Grand Prix World Cup will showcase Swiss talents Steve Guerdat, Martin Fuchs, and Janika Sprunger, competing against renowned riders such as Marcus Ehning, Henrik von Eckermann, and Grégory Wathelet among others.
Meanwhile, Beat Mändli will be participating in the 5* event in Amenia, USA, while Jane Richard and Nadja Peter Steiner are set to compete at the CSI 5* in Rome, part of the Global Tour. Across the Mediterranean, Swiss riders including Anthony Bourquard—who recently won the Grand Prix of Tétouan—Edouard Schmitz, Sacha Barthe, and Alexandra Amar are gearing up for the Nations Cup in Rabat, scheduled for Sunday at 14:00.
In addition to the international competitions, Swiss riders are also active in the 3* events in Gassin, near St-Tropez, and in Oliva, Spain. Around twenty Swiss competitors, including Barbara Schnieper, will be present at the CSI 2* in Gorla Minore, while young talents will participate in the CSI -25 at Chevenez.
Activities Across Disciplines and in Switzerland
In the discipline of dressage, Delia Eggenberger is competing at the CDI 4* in Troisdorf, Germany, while the Johner family has traveled to Strzegom, Poland, for the long-distance eventing competition, where Benoît Johner is set to ride in the 4* category with his horse Nobel. In endurance, Switzerland's elite will gather in Buch, Germany.
Within Switzerland, besides the CSI -25 event in Chevenez, the indoor competitions at Malapalud in Assens/VD will feature a day of PSR events, followed by a festive raclette evening on Saturday and B/R90 to 105 competitions on Sunday. Don’t miss the chance to participate!
