King Mohammed VI Appoints Abdelkarim Daoudi from Zaiou as Head of the Health Group for Fes-Meknes Region

Significant Royal Appointment in Moroccan Healthcare

In a noteworthy development reflecting confidence in national competencies, Abdelkarim Daoudi, a native of Zaiou, has been appointed as the General Director of the Territorial Health Group for the Fes-Meknes region. This significant appointment was made during a ministerial council chaired by His Majesty King Mohammed VI at the Royal Palace in Rabat, effectively ending the period of anticipation surrounding the announcement of leaders for this new health initiative, which is part of the implementation of the territorial health group system nationwide.

This decision is aligned with the broader efforts to activate deep reforms within the health sector, which have been underway since the government approved a series of regulatory decrees in December 2025. These decrees set the stage for adopting a new model for managing the healthcare system, initially piloted in the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region. An official statement revealed that several other appointments were made for regional health groups, including Hicham Afif for the Casablanca-Settat region, Ibrahim Lakhal for the Rabat-Sale-Kenitra region, Ibrahim Al-Ahmadi for the Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra region, and Tarek Al-Harithi for the Souss-Massa region, alongside Daoudi's appointment for Fes-Meknes.

Daoudi's Background and Future Role

Dr. Abdelkarim Daoudi is a prominent figure in the medical field, specializing in orthopedic surgery. He has accumulated considerable professional experience, both in medical practice and administrative roles. Previously, he served as the director of the Mohammed VI University Hospital Center in Oujda during the government of Saadeddine El Othmani. This recent appointment comes at the suggestion of Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch and at the initiative of Minister of Health and Social Protection, Amin Tahrani, as a part of the provisions outlined in Article 49 of the Constitution.

Looking ahead, Daoudi is expected to play a pivotal role in the execution of this ambitious health project in the Fes-Meknes region, particularly in enhancing the quality of healthcare services and making them more accessible to citizens while strengthening governance in the sector at the regional level.
