On April 9, 2026, King Mohammed VI presided over a ministerial council at the Royal Palace in Rabat, where significant appointments were made to bolster the leadership of Morocco's health sector. Following the provisions of Article 49 of the Moroccan Constitution and upon the recommendation of the Head of Government, the King appointed five new Directors General for the Territorial Health Groups (GST), a move aimed at enhancing healthcare delivery across the regions.
The newly appointed directors are as follows: Hicham Afif has been designated as the Director General of the GST for the Casablanca-Settat region, while Brahim Lekehal will lead the GST for the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra area. Abdelkrim Daoudi has been appointed as the Director General of the GST for Fès-Meknès, and Brahim El Ahmadi will oversee the GST in Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra. Lastly, Tarik El Harti has been tasked with directing the GST for the Souss-Massa region. These appointments are expected to bring renewed focus and strategic direction to health services in their respective areas, reflecting the government’s commitment to improving public health infrastructure and accessibility throughout the Kingdom.
