On the evening of March 16, 2026, coinciding with the 26th of Ramadan in the year 1447 of the Hijri calendar, King Mohammed VI, the revered Commander of the Faithful, presided over a profound religious gathering in Rabat to commemorate the auspicious occasion of Laylat Al-Qadr. Accompanied by esteemed members of the Royal Family, including HRH Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan, HRH Prince Moulay Rachid, and HH Prince Moulay Ahmed, this event unfolded within the solemn ambiance of the Royal Palace, reflecting the significant spiritual importance attributed to this night in the Islamic faith.
A Celebration of Faith and Recognition of Quranic Scholars
The evening commenced with the Isha and Tarawih prayers, followed by a significant recitation of Sahih Al-Bukhari, conducted by Idriss Ben Daouia, the President of the Local Council of Ulema of Larache. The atmosphere was further enriched by the recitation of “Hadith Al-Khatm” by Mustapha Zamehna, President of the Regional Council of Ulema of Beni Mellal-Khenifra. Adding to the spiritual resonance of the occasion, verses from the Holy Quran were beautifully recited by young Zaid El Bakkali, a 10-year-old prodigy from Salé, who was honored with the Prize for the Child Memorizer of the Quran. This award symbolizes the unwavering commitment of His Majesty to foster the memorization and understanding of the Holy Quran among the youth, thereby nurturing the next generation of faithful.
Moreover, King Mohammed VI presented several prestigious awards, including the Mohammed VI Ahl Al-Qur’an and Ahl Al-Hadith Prizes. Ahmed Talha from Fez and Adnane Zhar from El Jadida were the deserving recipients of these honors. The King also recognized the dedication of Quranic schools by awarding the Mohammed VI Prize in three categories, which included accolades for methodology, performance, and management, presented to Abdellatif Jalal, Marzouk Ait Amran, and Abdellatif Ibouha, respectively. Additionally, the Mohammed VI Prize for Adhan and Tahlil was awarded to Abderrahmane Benbakka and Mohamed Battout, honoring their exceptional contributions in these categories.
