Official Launch of the Explosives Technicians Brigade
On Thursday, August 27, 2026, the General Directorate of National Security officially inaugurated the Regional Brigade of Explosives Technicians, also known as the "Brigade Régionale des Artificiers," under the jurisdiction of the Agadir Security Authority. This initiative is part of ongoing efforts to implement structural and operational programs aimed at strengthening decentralized security infrastructures and enhancing their capabilities in dealing with the risks posed by explosive materials and devices.
Enhanced Security Response and Preparedness
The establishment of this brigade is a strategic move to bolster the decentralized police services with skilled professionals capable of managing the dangers and threats posed by explosives. This includes proactive measures such as conducting surveys and monitoring at venues hosting major sports, cultural, or social events, along with precautionary handling of suspicious items and materials. Furthermore, the brigade will support judicial investigations by providing necessary expertise in the analysis and examination of explosives and explosive devices.
To achieve this goal, a robust training program has been implemented to qualify a new generation of national security personnel for service within this brigade. The officers underwent specialized and detailed training sessions, supervised by trainers from the central explosives department. This training was conducted in two comprehensive phases: the first phase focused on fundamental principles of dealing with explosives, while the second phase emphasized hands-on training with various scenarios involving the neutralization of explosive devices.
The brigade is equipped with essential logistical and technical resources, including a specialized vehicle for transporting, storing, and deploying explosives handling equipment, as well as a light vehicle designated for personnel transportation and daily operational tasks. Additionally, logistical and informational equipment has been provided to meet the administrative and operational needs of the brigade.
The formation of the Regional Brigade of Explosives Technicians in Agadir aligns with the General Directorate of National Security’s commitment to enhancing security specialties and providing specialized professional structures. This initiative aims to address various security challenges related to explosives, thereby improving readiness and response for field operations and delivering specialized and effective security services.
