The Lions Conclude Training Ahead of Crucial Match

On Monday, September 28, the Moroccan national football team, known as the Lions de l'Atlas, completed their second and final training session at the Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein. This venue will host their upcoming match against Lesotho, scheduled for Tuesday, September 29, as part of the qualifiers for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (CAN). After an initial training session held at Ramabodu Stadium, head coach Mohamed Ouahbi’s squad focused on fine-tuning their technical and tactical strategies in preparation for this vital encounter. Notably, the team was almost at full strength, with only Nayef Aguerd, who remained at the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Maâmora to continue his recovery protocol, absent from the training.

As the match against Lesotho approaches, the Lions have wrapped up their preparations, ensuring they are ready to showcase their skills. The coach emphasized the importance of maintaining focus and not using any external factors, such as weather conditions or pitch quality, as excuses during the game. “We should only think about solutions during the match and remain focused on ourselves; this is the key,” he stated, reflecting on the team's mindset ahead of the challenging fixture.

Key Players Ready for Action

Among the players present at the training were Achraf Hakimi and Ismael Saibari, who were both suspended during the previous match against Gabon. Additionally, Brahim Diaz, who missed the Gabon match due to muscle pain, has returned to team training since their arrival in Bloemfontein. This availability of key players gives Coach Ouahbi a wealth of options as he prepares his starting eleven. “Today, we have only one absence. It’s Nayef Aguerd, whom we preferred to keep under his recovery protocol at Maâmora and spare him the trip. Otherwise, everyone trained yesterday, and we have plenty of choices,” he explained during the pre-match press conference.

Following their victory against Gabon (2-0) in Rabat, the Lions de l'Atlas face a different environment in South Africa, but Ouahbi is focused on the task ahead without seeking excuses. The match against Lesotho will kick off on September 29 at 1 PM, followed by a clash against Ghana on October 4 in Tangier, marking the end of this international break.
